TiNY CLUB: Animal Tracks
We’re learning about animal tracks for today’s Tiny Club! Our August Tiny Club book is Cori Doerrfeld’s The Rabbit Listened. (You can watch the storytime here!) We meet all kinds of animals in the book – a chicken, a bear, a snake, an ostrich, and (of course) a rabbit. This is a great opportunity to learn more about the animal world with your toddler. In today’s activity, you can learn about different animal tracks while teaching your toddler animal sounds and recognition!
Materials:
Washable Paint
Plastic Animal Toys
Paper
Instructions:
STEP 1. Help your toddler line up all of their plastic animal toys. While you do so, encourage them to repeat the name of each animal and the animal’s sound with you.
STEP 2. Paint one foot on each animal toy with washable paint. Help your toddler stamp each animal’s foot on your piece of paper until your sheet is full of animal footprints. Wipe off the toys before the paint dries for easy cleanup.
STEP 3. If you’d like, you can even do a footprint for yourself or your toddler!
STEP 4. Next time you’re outside together, look for animal tracks. Try to identify which animal made the track by its footprint.
