Museum Recipient of Atlanta Fulton County Arts and Culture Grant
Children’s Museum of Atlanta (CMA) is delighted to be a recipient of a grant from Fulton County through the department of Fulton County Arts and Culture.
The mission of Fulton County Arts and Culture is to insure all citizens’ access to the arts. Funding from Fulton County supports the presentation of three feature traveling exhibits at the Museum for 2019: Run! Jump! Fly!, Doc McStuffins: The Exhibit, and Curious GeorgeTM: Let’s Get Curious (currently featured). Each exhibit helps children learn real-life concepts that are age-appropriate and fun through immersive environments. Supplemental arts education activities reflect the themes of each traveling exhibit and allow visitors to participate in daily programs such as music, song, dance, and storytelling. Through these various forms of art, the Museum exposes young minds to STEM fields, world cultures, history, geography, and health and nutrition. The Imaginators, CMA’s troupe of professional actors and educators, present and perform daily programs with an energetic flair that brings the joy and excitement to learning. The Museum’s Arts Studio and Build It Lab allow children to construct and fashion their own projects and crafts, and then extend the Museum visit by taking their creations home.
Making art accessible for those who are not within the reach of quality programs is a priority for the Museum. Fulton County’s support makes it possible for underserved groups to benefit from the CMA’s educational resources both in-house and out in the community through outreach. Approximately 30,000 people are reached each year through CMA’s free and subsidized admission programs designed to reach low-income families, Title 1 schools, and children with disabilities. In-depth arts education programs are delivered directly into 21 schools, childcare and community centers in neighborhoods with limited resources monthly throughout the school year.
Children’s Museum of Atlanta wishes to thank the Fulton County Board of Commissioners for their generous support of our traveling exhibits and art programming that enhance the Museum experience. The Museum’s robust arts programs encourage language and literacy skills, social and emotional expression, and creative outlets. The Museum is committed to presenting a full range of programs that are infused with the arts all year long that make learning fun. The impact of Fulton County’s support goes beyond our Museum walls and helps to support the early development of all children in the greater metro-Atlanta area.
