Healthy & Wellness Fridays: Berry and Spinach Smoothie

Let’s get cooking! Parents, this is the perfect time to get your little ones involved in the kitchen. There are all kinds of fun things to explore – different textures, smells, tastes, and colors. This is also a great time to introduce your children to simple measurements.

Ingredients & Instructions

Ingredients:
1 banana 
1 cup of berries of your choice 
1/2 cup of spinach
1/2 cup of milk, yogurt, or water
1 teaspoon of honey if desired
Blender

If you don’t have some of these ingredients, don’t worry – smoothies are hard to mess up! You can substitute any kind of fruit, either frozen or fresh, and any type of dairy-free milk.

Recipe: 

  1. Chop your banana into smaller pieces. 
  2. Pour the milk, water, or yogurt into your blender.
  3. Add in your fruit, spinach, and honey.
  4. Blend the ingredients until the mixture is smooth.
  5. Enjoy!

Chef: someone who has trained and practiced to be able to cook professionally, like in a restaurant!

Bananas: Bananas give us potassium! Potassium helps us keep our hearts (and other muscles) healthy.
Berries (strawberries, blueberries, and raspberries): Berries give us Vitamin C! Vitamin C helps keep our teeth, gums, bones, and immune systems strong.
Spinach: Spinach gives us iron! Iron gives us lots of energy.
