Museum On-the-Go brings playful, hands-on learning to your classrooms or community spaces. With programs designed to engage 2 year olds to 5th graders, there’s fun to discover for everyone!
Each Museum On-the-Go is led by the Museum's professionally trained educators and includes a story time and a facilitated hands-on activity. Featuring a range of STEAM topics, Museum On-the Gos are designed to be fun while supporting your curriculum and meeting GELDS and Georgia Standards of Excellence.
The Children’s Museum offers Museum On-the-Gos that are developmentally appropriate for three distinct age groups: 2 to 4 year olds, pre-K to 3rd graders, and 4th to 5th graders.
Our innovative, hands-on programs are also available virtually.

2-4 Year Olds
Crafted For Littles
These programs are $250 for up to 25 children.
Bug Rescue
Are your students obsessed with bugs? Grab your microscope and get ready to bug out with us! Students will enjoy a storytime with the book I Love Bugs by Philemon Sturges where they will learn about all the different types of bugs and what makes them special. After reading, students will participate in an interactive activity where they must save their bug friends from a tangled web! This activity will help them with their language development and fine motor skills as they learn about how bugs get around. Finally, the students will finish with a fun and easy take home craft. Let's get buzzing! (This program is for students 2–4-year-olds.)

Farmyard Friends
Grab your overalls and let’s head over to the farm! In this program your students will learn what it’s like being a farmer for the day!. Your students will have the chance to collect chicken eggs, go on a pig hunt, and have a fun take-home craft! Through a read – aloud of On the Farm by Brooke Vitale, students will learn about animal sounds, recognize and recall colors and numbers, and practice gross and fine motor skills. These activities are also designed to aid early language development. Let’s get ready to go on our great farm adventure! (This program is designed for 2–4 year-olds.)

Bounce and Boogie
Let’s get ready to bust a move in this interactive and upbeat program. During this workshop students will be taken through a move along story time with the book Stomp, Wiggle and Clap by Rachelle Burk. While reading the story, the students will have the chance to dance and move while learning about colors and numbers. Afterwards, students will play a dancing game to help grow their spatial awareness, gross motor skills, and build confidence through movement. (This program is designed for 2–4 year-olds.)

Busy Bees, Our Pollinating Friends
Let’s learn all about bees! Those buzzing insects play a huge role in our environment by being powerhouse pollinators! This program includes a poetic story about a bee, a hive, and the search for nectar! Included is a pollinating activity in which children will make a bee and get to see exactly how pollination works as their bee collects “pollen” and then transfers it to other “flowers”. (This program is designed for Pre K – 3rd Grade.)

Our Place in Space
This STEM program takes us on a journey together through our solar system. Come along as we explore the planets and stars while gaining a greater understanding of where we are in our universe. We will read Me and My Place in Space by Joan Sweeney, followed by an activity in which students will create a mini galaxy jar to take home. Students learn key vocabulary words such as galaxy, Milky Way, moon, planet, solar system, star, Sun, and universe. (This program is designed for Pre K – 3rd grade.)

Animals in My Backyard
In this program, children will be introduced to animals and their habitats through a story time featuring Over the Forest by Marianne Burke. CMA Educators will discuss the different types of ecosystems and geography within Georgia such as the mountains, marshes, coastal plan and the Piedmont. Students also learn about animals that are native to these habitats. Students will create a mask based on the animals they learned about. (This program is designed for Pre-K - 3rd Grade.)

Gloopy Glop
Turn your classroom into a bubbling science lab with this exciting interactive workshop. Students will have a blast learning about chemical reactions while conducting a hands-on experiment resulting in a cool concoction called Gloopy Glop. (This program is designed for Pre-K – 3rd Grade.)

Homegrown Greens: the Life of a Plant
In this STEM program, students will become gardeners as they learn about how planting seeds can grow and nourish our community. We will read Harlem Grown by Tony Hillery, a true story about a group of students that turned an empty lot into a flourishing garden, while learning the steps needed to turn a seed into food on our table. Students will get the opportunity to grow their very own wheatgrass heads. (This program is designed for Pre-K – 3rd Grade.)

Emotion Commotion: What's a Monster to Do?
What’s a monster to do!? In this Social and Emotional Learning program, we will read the book Color Monster by Anna Llenas. Students will go on a journey with the Color Monster to sort out the meaning of emotions – the big ones, and the small ones. We will discuss the meaning of vocabulary words such as emotions, mindfulness, kindness, and yoga, and how sometimes our feelings can be confusing! A brief yoga session will be taught, and children will create their own artistic Color Monster using measured breathing. (This program is designed for Pre-K – 3rd Grade.)

Potion Blast: A Rainbow Reaction
Put on your lab coats and break out the googles because chemistry just got a makeover! Get your students excited about science with this STEM based program which will explore vocabulary words scientist, chemicals, chemical reactions, and more. Educators will read Ada Twist, Scientist by Andrea Beaty as well as lead a safe and exciting scientific experiment! (This program is designed for Pre-K – 3rd Grade.)

B is for Brave
Working up the courage to do something new is hard. Students will learn how to identify and express emotions and what it means to be BRAVE. This workshop opens with a wonderful story, Jabari Jumps by Gaia Cornwall, about a little boy who overcomes one of his biggest fears. (This program is designed for Pre-K – 3rd Grade.)

Jr. Engineering Challenge
Inspired by the book Rosie Revere, Engineer by Andrea Beaty, this workshop gives aspiring engineers the opportunity to create something extraordinary with simple everyday objects. Students will use every day materials to invent a simple gliding device. Educators will facilitate conversation & observation, introducing vocabulary words such as engineer, invention, persist, and glide along the way. (This program is designed for Pre-K –3rd Grade.)

Awesome Architecture
Children are natural problem-solvers and have a love of trial and error. So why not stimulate your students’ natural curiosity by giving them the opportunity to create a fun structure during this awesome building activity! This program encourages creativity combining math and engineering skills to produce great structures as we read Iggy Peck, Architect by Andrea Beaty. (This program is designed for Pre-K – 3rd Grade.)

Head in the Clouds
Children will explore the water cycle and learn about the different types of clouds and what they mean by the weather in Little Raindrop by Melanie Joyce. Students will watch a real cloud form and create their own “cloud in a cup.” (This program is designed for Pre-K – 3rd Grade.)

These programs are $300 for up to 25 children.
Hydrologic Disruption
Let's see what happens when the water cycle gets extreme! In this interactive challenge, students will build a structure out of everyday materials that can withstand the power of a hurricane. Educators will discuss the steps of the hydrologic cycle, while exploring the phenomena of hurricanes, a crucial piece of climatic balance and a powerful force of nature! (This program is designed for 4th - 5th Grade.)

Terrific Terrariums: A Sustainable World
Ready to level up your growing game? Our advanced gardeners will learn how plants interact with each other within an ecosystem. We will cover topics such as photosynthesis and how plants factor into the water cycle. Students will make their very own terrariums. Watch at home as your terrarium becomes its own self-sustaining ecosystem! (This program is designed for 4th - 5th Grade.)

A Quest through the Cosmos
Ready for an out of this world adventure? Join us as we take a journey through the stars to discuss the many celestial bodies that fill our sky! We will travel through our solar system while discussing the science behind stars and how planets and moons find their orbits as we make our own models of the Earth's orbit. (This program is designed for 4th - 5th Grade.)

Museum On-the-Gos vary in price by age range and cover up to 25 children. On-the-Gos for 2-3 year olds are $250. On-the-Gos for Pre-Kindergarten-3rd grade are $275. On-the-Gos for 4th-5th grade are $300.
The prices increases $12 per child for groups of 26-35 children. Groups larger than 35 children will incur the cost on an additional On-the-Go program.
When you book more than one of the same Museum On-the-Go programs for the same day and location, each additional program receives a $20 discount.
Pricing includes 20 miles round trip, locations exceeding 20 miles round trip will be charged $0.70/mile for each additional mile.
In-Person & Virtual
30-minute program plus 15 minutes for Q&A.
Supply boxes include all workshop materials for up to 25 students and are included in the price of your Museum On-the-Go.
For virtual Museum On-the-Gos, supply boxes can be delivered by CMA, picked up by someone from your organization, or shipped via UPS (rates will vary). All materials for up to 25 students will be available after receiving a deposit.
Dates sell out quickly. A 50% non-refundable deposit is due two (2) weeks after the time of booking.
When you are ready to book your On-the Go program, you should have:
- at least three (3) possible dates selected
- time of day you would like the program to start
- the number of children and classes you want to attend the program
- The age and grade of the children
- Access to tables where the children can do their activity
- A table for the Museum Educator to use during the workshop
Before you book your virtual On-the-Go make sure you also have:
- access to technology that will support a Teams session in your classroom
School checks made out to Children’s Museum of Atlanta, or credit cards (American Express, Discover, MasterCard and Visa) are acceptable forms of payment. School checks or school credit cards must be used for tax-exempt status.
Call as soon as possible to cancel or change a reservation. Reservations are held with a 50% non-refundable deposit. Organizations must cancel within six (6) weeks of the scheduled program to apply the deposit to a different date within the same school year. Rescheduling a program is based on availability. Cancellations made less than six (6) weeks prior to visit will result in forfeiture of 50% deposit.
