Latin American Heritage Month
Tuesday, September 1, 2026 - Tuesday, September 29, 2026
Upcoming Special Programs:
Join the Museum for Latin American Heritage Month! This September, we are celebrating some of the Latine individuals who have helped shape our world in science, art, and literacy! We’ll be exploring and making our very own blood slime at the Science Bar; creating a printmaking masterpiece at the Art Studio, and leaping into a storytime at the Stage with a game of Lily-Pad Leap!
The Museum will be shifting to facilitated workshops at the Art Studio and Science Bar. Activity sign-up is available daily at Security!
Activities:
CMA Stage: Lily-Pad Leap
At the CMA Stage, join us for a fun game of Lily-Pad Leap after reading "Coquí in the City" written and illustrated by Nomar Perez.
Science Bar: Blood Slime
At the Science Bar, learn about Dr. Jose Celco Barbosa, the first Puerto Rican to earn a medical degree in the United States! In honor of his life and work, we'll be learning about the different components of blood, and how they keep our bodies healthy using slime!
Art Studio: Styrofoam Printing
Learn about Latina artist, Favianna Rodriguez at the Art Studio! Explore abstract shapes and bright colors while learning about the process of relief printmaking inspired by her work.
