National Tell A Fairy Tale Day

On Saturday, February 24, we’re celebrating National Tell a Fairy Tale Day at CMA! Join us for a fun-filled day of fantasy and lore, all while encouraging reading, writing, and literary creativity – even catch a special afternoon performance by Callanwolde School of Dance! Listed programs will occur at scheduled times, and additional activity tables can be visited for more Fairy Tale fun!

Cinderella’s Ball – 11:00 AM   

Bibbidi-bobbidi-boo! The Fairy Godmother has transformed you into a prince or princess just in time for the ball! Hurry to the CMA Stage to learn how to waltz before the clock strikes 12!

Fairytale Mad-libs – 12:00 PM & 3:00 PM

Gather around the CMA stage to not just hear a popular fairytale, but to help create one! Through this interactive story-telling program, children will learn about parts of speech, as well as how to build their own story with leading characters, and a memorable beginning, middle, and end, just like their favorite fairy tales!

SPECIAL GUEST PERFORMANCE – Callanwolde School of Dance – 1:00 PM & 2:00 PM 

The Tales of Peter Rabbit Ballet Performance – Immerse yourself in the story of Peter Rabbit through a beautiful performance created by Callanwolde School of Dance. Not only will visitors be able to watch the classic fairy tale unfold through beautiful ballet steps, but this special piece for Fairy Tale Day will incorporate story-telling and even an opportunity to learn some of the dance steps yourself!

Super Spectacular Science Show – 4:00 PM

Every afternoon, Professor Labcoat shares a fascinating science demonstration with the whole museum! Join the Professor to see what kind of fun she or her assistants have cooked up! Questions are encouraged at the end of the show.

Science Bar – open 11:00 AM – 3:30 PM

Visit the mezzanine level of the museum to explore Staffed by a STEM educator with a whole menu full of fun activities and a whole head full of knowledge, the Science Bar is where questions turn into answers!

Art Studio – open 11:00 AM – 4:00 PM

The projects in the Art Studio connect and are inspired by the traveling exhibits in the museum as well as cultural holidays. Children discover colors and explore artists from around the world. During CMA’s Tell a Fairy Tale Day celebration, visit the art studio to make your own crown!

Build It Lab – open 11:00 AM – 4:00 PM

To celebrate Tell a Fairy Tale Day, join our CMA Build It Lab Educator to make your own catapult, worthy of defending any castle! Even more building fun can be had on the Mezzanine level the museum near the Science Bar to help us build our own CMA cardboard kingdom! Through our Build It Lab programs, children and their caregivers will be given the tools and materials they need to spark creativity, nurture curious minds, and ignite the next wave of innovators.
