Special Solar Eclipse Programs

August 21 @ 10:30 am - 3:30 pm

A limited number of solar eclipse glasses will be distributed, after admission has been purchased/secured, to children ages 10 and under on a first-come/first-served basis. If families would like to join Professor Labcoat in Centennial Olympic Park during the eclipse, the Museum suggests that adults bring their own solar eclipse glasses. 

Mini-Musical – 11:00 AM & 12:00 PM

A Sound Connection – A robot from the planet Solar and a caveperson from Earth come together for one common interest; the wonder of sound! Join these unlikely friends as they travel down the “Earie” Canal, listening to different animals in the wild, dancing and moving like sound waves, and becoming lifelong friends! Join the fun during this special Blue Man Group-Making Waves inspired mini-musical!

Music & Movement – 1:00 PM

Glow in the Dark Dance Party!  – Join the Imaginators as they put on their best glow in the dark accessories and dance to songs inspired by the sun and the moon!

Eclipse Announcement – 2:00 PM

We will Live Stream the Eclipse at the Science Bar!

2:10 PM  – Science Bar closes
2:25 PM  – Arts Studio & Build It Lab close
2:30 PM  – Eclipse announcement; Guests & staff can walk over to park for eclipse viewing
2:35 PM – ECLIPSE VIEWING PARTY IN CENTENNIAL OLYMPIC PARK
2:45 PM – Staff & Guests return to Museum
3:00 PM – Eclipse Storytime

Science Bar – open 10:30 AM – 2:10 PM; 3:00 – 4:00 PM

Science is everywhere, but it’s especially on the mezzanine at the Children’s Museum of Atlanta!  Staffed by a STEM educator with a whole menu full of fun activities and a whole head full of knowledge, the Science Bar is where questions turn into answers!

Art Studio – open 10:30 AM – 2:25 PM; 3:00 – 3:30 PM

In honor of the Eclipse guests will make their own spaceships.

Build It Lab – open 10:30 AM – 2:25 PM; 3:00 – 3:30 PM

Create a star for Eclipse Day using nails, wood and yarn.
