Celebrate Passover: A Cultural Exploration

In celebration of the Jewish holiday of Passover, visit with organizations representing Atlanta’s Jewish community, and engage in a full afternoon of Passover-themed art, music, science, and reading activities!

My First Passover by Tomie dePaola – 11:00 AM

Passover is a time for families and friends to celebrate their faith and shared history. Join the Imaginators as you learn about this special holiday from this wonderful book by Tomie de Paola.

Guest Performance: Rabbi Glusman, Marcus Jewish Community Center of Atlanta – 12:00 & 2:00 PM

Celebrate Passover with Rabbi G from the MJCCA at the Children’s Museum of Atlanta! Dance and sing along to classic Passover songs, learn from Passover stories that tell the tales of Moses’ bravery, and unravel Passover traditions.

Special Guest Programs – 1:00 PM

Gather around the CMA stage for Passover programming as presented by one of the MJCCA’s community partners! Hear a story read, or learn a new traditional Jewish dance!

Eat A Georgia Rainbow – 3:00 PM

Super Spectacular Science Show – 4:00 PM

Every afternoon, Professor Labcoat shares a fascinating science demonstration with the whole museum! Join her to see what kind of fun she and her assistants have cooked up! Questions are encouraged at the end of the show.

Science Bar – open 11:00 AM – 3:30 PM

Science is everywhere, but it’s especially on the mezzanine at the Children’s Museum of Atlanta! Staffed by a STEM educator with a whole menu full of fun activities and a whole head full of knowledge, the Science Bar is where questions turn into answers!

Art Studio – open 11:00 AM – 3:00 PM

The projects in the Art Studio connect and are inspired by the traveling exhibits in the museum as well as cultural holidays. Children discover colors and explore artists from around the world. Visit the Art Studio during our Celebrate Passover programming to make frog paper plate characters – as told in the story of Passover, swarms of frogs were one of the 10 plagues sent upon by the Egyptians!

Build It Lab – open 11:00 AM – 4:00 PM

Children will enjoy this supervised space where they have access to real tools and materials needed to spark creativity, nurture curious minds, and ignite the next wave of innovators. Woodworking and other popular maker skills encourage visitors to be curious, creative and innovative. Following the story of Passover, come to the Build It Lab to measure and build your own Egyptian pyramid!
