Celebrate Navroz: A Cultural Exploration

Join the volunteers from the Ismali Muslim Community in celebrating the festival of Navroz through music and crafts. Learn about the Persian and Central Asian cultures through stories and art from the Aga Khan Museum.
Guest Performance: Ismali Choir – 11:00 AM & 1:00 PM
Singers from the Ismaili community will perform cultural songs for Navroz.
Navroz Storytime – 12:00 PM and 2:00 PM
An Afghan Navroz Story by Nissa Kara – Every year on the first day of spring, children from around the world celebrate the Persian New Year Navroz. This is a story about a young boy and girl, Ariana and Jamil, who commemorate this joyous occasion in Afghanistan
Navroz Celebration Scarf Dance – 3:00 PM
Scarf Dance with Hand Movements – Explore rhythm and movement while dancing a colorful scarf dance to celebrate the Navroz holiday.
Super Spectacular Science Show – 4:00 PM
Every afternoon, Professor Labcoat shares a fascinating science demonstration with the whole museum! Join her to see what kind of fun she and her assistants have cooked up! Questions are encouraged at the end of the show.
Science Bar – open 11:00 AM – 3:30 PM
Science is everywhere, but it’s especially on the mezzanine at the Children’s Museum of Atlanta! Staffed by a STEM educator with a whole menu full of fun activities and a whole head full of knowledge, the Science Bar is where questions turn into answers!
Art Studio – open 11:00 AM – 3:00 PM
The projects in the Art Studio connect and are inspired by the traveling exhibits in the museum as well as cultural holidays. Children discover colors and explore artists from around the world. To celebrate Navroz, visit the Art Studio to create your own geometric tile art!
Build It Lab – open 11:00 AM – 4:00 PM
Children will enjoy this supervised space where they have access to real tools and materials needed to spark creativity, nurture curious minds, and ignite the next wave of innovators. Woodworking and other popular maker skills encourage visitors to be curious, creative and innovative. Projects may include building your own stethoscope out of recycled materials.
