Presidents’ Day Programs

February 19 @ 10:30 am - 3:30 pm

Mini-Musical – 11:00 PM

Peach State Flyer written by Jerry G. White – From depot to depot hop on board the Peach State Flyer steam train and learn about the wonderful contributions of great African Americans through story and song!

Storytime & CMA’s Inauguration Parade – 12:00 PM & 3:00 PM

Read along with the Imaginators as they share aloud Catherine Stier’s book, If I were President, a tale that depicts what different children imagine it would be like if they were President of the United States. What would you do for our country if you were President? After the story is read, follow the Imaginators along CMA’s own Inauguration Parade route!

Super Spectacular Science Show – 1:00 PM

Every afternoon, Professor Labcoat shares a fascinating science demonstration with the whole museum! Join her to see what kind of fun she and her assistants have cooked up! Questions are encouraged at the end of the show.

Special Relays and Games – 2:00 PM

On Presidents’ Day, the Imaginators are ready to play some perfectly presidential relay games! Identify the presidents found on U.S. currency while building the tallest money tower, or match our country’s presidents with the pets they cared for while living in the White House!

Science Bar – open 10:30 AM – 3:30 PM

Science is everywhere, but it’s especially on the mezzanine at the Children’s Museum of Atlanta! On Presidents’ Day at the Science Bar, guess what kinds of liquids will best clean a penny, engineer Lincoln’s log cabin, and learn how to count tree rings, just like those exposed when George Washington famously cut down a Cherry Tree! Staffed by a STEM educator with a whole menu full of fun activities and a whole head full of knowledge, the Science Bar is where questions turn into answers!

Art Studio – open 10:30 AM – 3:30 PM

The projects in the Art Studio connect and are inspired by the traveling exhibits in the museum as well as cultural holidays. Children discover colors and explore artists from around the world. On Presidents’ Day, children may make a tissue paper American flag or other Americana-themed crafts.

Build It Lab – open 10:30 AM – 3:30 PM

Children will enjoy this supervised space where they have access to real tools and materials needed to spark creativity, nurture curious minds, and ignite the next wave of innovators. Woodworking and other popular maker skills encourage visitors to be curious, creative and innovative.
